Moving to Dorset has been a bit of an enlightment. We’re so much more aware of community, nature and food here. Scotland was a step in the right direction but we had to go pretty far and wide to find what we were looking for. I think we felt a bit isolated from it all. We’d go to markets and shops but we never really saw the process of making these foods. Here we are surrounded by herds of sheep, dairy cows, and polytunnels and people here are rather keen on making themselves known and giving information about their process. At our own village market you have a real sense of pride that all the producers come from a 15 mile radius, and most are right on our doorstep. I want to dedicate a couple of pages to writing about my favourites.
